SPECIAL NEEDS: Poor little Tagg! Abandoned! And if that wasn't bad
enough; he is just a young pup, deaf and suffering with demodex
mange!
Thankfully, some kindly, compassionate ladies scooped him up and delivered
him into the arms of safety! They took him to Jackie and she has nursed him
back to health.
Tagg is every bit puppy; loves to play, sleep and eat. He is such a love.
It is amazing how many times I caught myself calling for him and then
remembered that he can't hear me! I began using hand signals as a way to
communicate. He does very well with the "come" hand gesture-(that is, as
long as he is looking at you!). So, it will need to be a very special person
who adopts Tagg. They will need to learn canine sign language in order to
communicate with him. Training classes for his new owner would be a plus.
Along with that, they will need to be a person of patience.
UPDATE 3/05/08
Tagg continues to be a real sweetheart. We are working with him on more
"canine sign language". He is quick to learn hand gestures. We also use voice
(even though he can't hear) and facial expressions, as he picks up on those as
well.
He still enjoys cuddling and lots of play time with "Andi" a 7 mos. old
White Scottich Terrier, who is new to the Rescue.
Tagg is growing into such a handsome young boy. He definitely will win your
heart!
